Nicaragua has a very rich culture and a proud history. This colonial day tour will take you to the city of Catarina. Here you will explore the markets where you can shop for various souvenirs and observe the beautiful Laguna de Apoyo (Lake Apoyo) and Mombacho volcano from an elevated lookout. We then take a short drive to the city of Masaya. Here you will see the very active Masaya volcano. We will hike up to the crater and get a chance to see her fiery lava! After a typical Nicaraguan lunch in the small city of Masaya we will drive to Granada. Granada is home to multiple Spanish colonial landmarks. You will have a chance to take in all of its beautiful architecture and visit the Cathedral of Granada, dating back to 1583. We then venture to Islets of Granada. Islets of Granada are located in Lake Nicaragua. The islets are a group of 365 small islands formed by the eruptions from the surrounding volcanos. Here we will coast along the river in a small boat and get the history of the islands, summing off the river tour on Monkey island. Here you will have a chance to see 12 different Spider monkey families in action! Don’t miss out of this amazing day of history, culture and nature!
